Days of Chaos & Confusion (Discerning the Traffic of the Enemy): Pay Attention to the Riots, Protest & Unrest Around You

Today’s selected reading continues in the New Testament scriptural account of the spiritual body of Jesus the Christ which is the church as it was written and recorded in the book of Acts by the beloved physician Luke. More specifically, today’s passages is found in verses twenty-four through thirty of the twenty-second chapter. MY JOURNEY BEGAN WITH ZEAL! MY JOURNEY BEGAN WITH PASSION! THERE IS A WAY THAT SEEMS RIGHT UNTO A MAN! I THOUGHT I WAS DOING THE RIGHT THING! I THOUGHT I WAS DOING GOD A FAVOR! I THOUGHT I WAS DOING GOD A SERVICE! I THOUGHT GOD WAS PLEASED! ON A COLLISION COURSE WITH GRACE! I PERSECUTED WHAT I DIDN’T UNDERSTAND! IT IS HARD FOR THEE TO KICK AGAINST THE GOADS! WHAT ARE YOU RESISTING? WHY ARE YOU RESISTING? When you come to this particular passage of scripture you will find the apostle Paul in the thick of the chaos and confusion that as translated from the cities of Asia he brought and preached the gospel. If you read the words which are found within the account of the apostle Paul in this passage you will find the apostle Paul being assaulted and attacked by an angry mob of Jews which had seen and heard him in the cities of Asia. You will recall how the apostle Paul had gone up to the temple after purifying himself for seven days, and how he and those who were with him went up to the temple that sacrifices might be offered and made for them to signify the end and collection of the purification. It would be while there in the temple the apostle Paul would be seen and recognized by Jews which had both seen and heard him preach in the cities of Asia. It would be these Jews which saw and beheld there apostle Paul there in the cities of Asia who would see him here in the temple and would incite a tremendous uproar there within the city of Jerusalem. I continue to read the words which bring us face to face with the account of the apostolic life and ministry of the apostle Paul and I cannot help but encounter and come face to face with the incredible reality of affliction and opposition not only seeming and appearing to follow us from place to place, but also finding us in and from place to place. The more I read and the more I consider the life and ministry of the apostle Paul the more I can’t help but come to terms with the reality that the opposition he faced in one city would not remain and abide in that city but would indeed follow him into and unto another city there in Asia. As I sit here this morning and read the words which are found within this passage of scripture I can’t help but take a look at the events which took place and occurred within the life and ministry of the apostle Paul and Asia and specifically how the Jews which were scattered abroad in Asia would time and time rise up against him in opposition and would incite the crowds of people within the city against the apostle Paul and the gospel he faithfully preached according to the word of the Lord Jesus.

As I come to the twenty-first and twenty second chapters of the book of Acts I can’t help but fine myself encountering the same opposition which the apostle Paul faced there in the cities of Asia now coming to the city of Jerusalem. If you read the words found in previous chapters you will find that more often than not it would be the Jews which were present in the different cities in Asia’s the apostle Paul visited which would stir up the people against him and would incite confusion and chaos. I can’t help but think to myself that if the veil between the supernatural and the natural realms were peeled back and we were able to see what was taking place in the unseen realm we would see the principalities and powers of darkness which were present during those days moving and operating behind the scenes and influencing the Jews in their minds. When you read the words which are found within the book of acts you will find the Jews rising up in continued opposition against the apostle Paul, however, I am convinced that I’d we could see that which was taking place in the unseen and invisible realm we would see evil spirits and principalities like puppeteers pulling the strings of the hearts and minds of the Jews toward and against the apostle Paul. There is not a doubt in my mind that what we see and what we find in the natural is nothing in comparison with what we find and see in the supernatural. With that being said, it would almost seem and appear that when you read and consider the life of the apostle Paul—more often than not he was not spared from opposition, nor was he spared from suffering, nor was he even spared from affliction, but was instead subjected to it according to the divine will of the living God. More often than not we think and feel that the divine will and plan of the Father is to save us from trouble and to deliver us from any trouble we could or might even face. The truth of the matter is that more often than not the Lord does not save us from trouble or affliction but saves us through and saves ya in the midst of it. I recently heard a popular contemporary Christian minister speak of the psalms and how within them David wrote how God was his refuge in times of trouble. This particular minister corrected the assumption we make when we think that God saves us from and God is our refuge from trouble when in all reality God is our refuge in trouble. In other words, we experience the greatest provision and protection from the living God when we are going through it and when we are in the thick of it rather than if we were somehow saved and soared from it.

I sit here this morning and I can’t help but think about and consider the fact that more often than not we think and believe that it is somehow the job of the Holy Spirit to save us from trouble and to save us from conflict and affliction, and yet the truth of the matter is that this simply isn’t the case. In fact, if and as you read the words which are found within the New Testament you will find the continued and repeated instruction and encouragement to those who overcame would be granted the promises and provision of the living God. I am fully and completely convinced that when you read the account of the life and ministry of the apostle Paul, and if you were permitted to pull the veil that separated the supernatural and natural realms you would find and notice an intense battle that was taking place between the principalities and powers of darkness and the angels in heaven which were found within the earth and perhaps even here in the city of Jerusalem. I believe that what we see in the natural is a true fours picture of what is actually taking place in the supernatural and unseen realm as the evil spirits, the principalities and powers of darkness are working and conspiring together to create mass chaos and confusion among the hearts and minds of the people. The chaos and confusion they would be manifested in the cities of Asia would now be manifested and come and appear within the city of Jerusalem as the Jews which were in Asia and stirred up the people would now bring their same chaos and confusion into and unto the city of Jerusalem. It is worth thinking about and considering the fact that the affliction and opposition the apostle Paul faced and experienced there in the cities of Asia would not be limited to one specific city within Asia but would now find its way unto and would manifest itself within the midst of the city of Jerusalem. Oh that we would recognize and understand this tremendous reality, for it had the ability to dramatically alter how we view what is taking place here in the city of Jerusalem. I read the words concerning the life of the apostle Paul and I can’t help but be directly and completely confronted with the fact that within his life we see two realities and two principles at work within and surrounding him. On the one hand we see the fulfillment of that which Jesus the Christ had spoken unto Ananias concerning Saul, and how He would show him what great things he must suffer for His name’s sake. On the one side we would see the fulfillment of the word which was spoken unto Ananias and how the apostle Paul who at that time was still known as Saul would suffer many things for the sake of the name of the Lord Jesus Christ—a reality which was absolutely inevitable and unavoidable. We cannot, we dare not and must not miss and lose sight of this incredible and tremendous reality, for to do so would be to miss and lose sight of that which is taking place within the life of this great apostle. While on the one hand we find and see the fulfillment of the word which Jesus the Christ spoke unto Ananias concerning the apostle Paul and what great things he must suffer, I am convinced that on the other hand we see the principalities, the powers of darkness, and the forces of hell itself mounting a full scale attack and assault—not only on the apostle Paul, but also on the gospel he preached among the Gentiles in Asia. I firmly believe and an completely convinced that when you look at and examine the life of the apostle Paul you can and will see the fulfillment of that which Jesus the Christ spoke unto Ananias concerning the suffering(s) and affliction(s) he would face, but you will also see a manifestation of what is taking place behind the scenes in the supernatural and unseen realm.

I read the account of the life and ministry of the apostle Paul and I am immediately ushered into a truly astonishing and intriguing picture of this apparent dichotomy between the divine will and pleasure of the living God and the intentions and devices of the enemy and adversary. As I sit here this morning and read and consider the account of the apostle Paul within the city of Jerusalem I can’t help but find myself looking upon the riot and uproar which took place in the city of Jerusalem and see it as more than just angry and envious Jews who were seeking to stir up and incite the people in Jerusalem toward and against the apostle Paul. What’s more, is that I read that which is found within this passage of Scripture and I can’t help but encounter the fact that what we see on the surface and what we see in the natural is so much more different than what we see and find in the supernatural realm, for if we were to be given a glimpse into what was taking place behind the scenes in the unseen and invisible realm we would see the principalities and powers of darkness manipulating the hearts and minds of the Jews there in the city of Jerusalem—together with the hearts and minds of all those whom they would stir up with their words—and how it would be this manipulation of their hearts and minds that would cause the uproar and riot to take place there in the city. What we must understand is that this wasn’t the first time an angry mob of Jews were assembled in the city of Jerusalem crying out for the blood of one of their own, for if you read the four gospels which were written concerning the life and ministry of the Lord Jesus the Christ you will find it written how the Jews at that time cried out for His blood, and were willing to accept His blood being upon their heads and upon their hands. You cannot read any of the four gospels and not encounter and come face to face with the angry mob of the Jews that were present during the days of Jesus and read how they were stirred up and incensed against Jesus the Christ as He stood beside Pilate bound and falsely accused and condemned. It would be the angry mob of Jews that would cry out for the blood of Jesus to be shed and to be spilled, for Him to be killed and crucified that they might be rid of Him once and for all. Now, as you come to the twenty-first and twenty-second chapters of the book of Acts you will find an angry mob of Jews once more being incensed against another one of their own—this time the one who was the target of their anger, their envy and their fury was the apostle Paul who at one point in time sat at the feet of Gamaliel and taught according to their own law—the Law of Moses which was given unto the servant and prophet of God while atop the mountain in the wilderness. Here in Jerusalem we again find the Jews being thrust into chaos and confusion because of envy, malice, hatred and anger, and as a direct result of their emotions and thoughts would cry out for the blood of the apostle Paul to be shed and spilt there in the city. What an incredible and tremendous thought it is to think how the Jews would once more be manipulated by the principalities and powers of darkness which were working behind the scenes to control their thoughts and emotions during those days and at that time.

If there is one thing I can’t help but find myself encountering when I read the account of the apostle Paul here in the city of Jerusalem, it’s how easily the human heart and mind can be manipulated but the principalities and powers of darkness. While on the surface it might seem that this was simply the Jews from Asia continuing their anger and hostility toward the apostle Paul and inciting the crowd there in the city against the apostle, I am convinced that there is so much more to the scene and so much more to the picture than what meets the eye. There is not a doubt in my mind that when we read the words which are found within this passage of Scripture we do in fact see in the natural and physical the Jews from Asia stirring up the Jews which were in Jerusalem, and perhaps even the Jews from the other regions and parts of the world, however, we must recognize and understand that more often than not what we see and what we find in the natural realm is a manifestation and picture of that which is taking place in the supernatural and spiritual realm. It would be very easy for us to read the words which are found within this passage and simply see the Jews being stirred up and incensed against the apostle Paul, and that is simply the end of the matter. The truth and underlying reality, however, is that what we see and what we find in the natural and physical realm is so much deeper and so much more than just the Jews crying out for the blood of the apostle Paul and the entire city being thrust into chaos and confusion. In fact, I would even dare say that what we find here is a tremendous picture of the divine will of the Father for the apostle Paul setting the stage and preparing him to take the gospel concerning Jesus the Christ further than he had previously done. At the risk of getting ahead of myself and ahead in the book of Acts you must understand that as a result of what took place within the city of Jerusalem the apostle Paul would ultimately appeal to Caesar, and as a result would find his path leading him to Rome itself. While I do in fact believe and see that the principalities and powers of darkness are working behind the scenes to manipulate the hearts and minds of the Jews toward and against the apostle Paul, I also firmly believe that what we find here is a divine set up of the living God and Father of the Lord Jesus the Christ, for the will and good pleasure of the Father is being worked within the life of the apostle Paul to ultimately bring him unto Rome itself. The events we see and find here within Jerusalem were not simply about Jerusalem alone, but were actually divine tools and instruments in the hand of the Father to ultimately bring the gospel concerning Jesus the Christ to Rome itself, for the apostle Paul ultimately be placed on a ship that would set sail for the capital city of the Roman Empire in order that he might appear before Caesar to testify concerning Jesus the Christ there in Rome. We dare not miss and lose sight of this incredibly significant reality, for to do so would be to miss out on what was truly and ultimately taking place within the life of the apostle Paul, as well as that which the living God desired to fulfill and accomplish within the earth.

You might very well read the account of an angry mob of Jews swarming before and around the apostle Paul here within the city of Jerusalem, and you might not think anything of it, however, I would dare say and would strongly suggest that what you see manifested in an angry mob is actually a direct manifestation of a deeper reality which was taking place in the supernatural realm. I sit here this morning and read the account of the apostle Paul there in the city of Jerusalem—undoubtedly at the feast of Pentecost—and I read of the incensed and angered mob of Jews crying out for his blood there in the city, and yet I find myself looking beyond what we see and find in the natural and look upon what is found and seen in the unseen and supernatural realm. What makes this even more interesting and intriguing is that if you read the account of the apostle Paul in the twentieth chapter of the book of Acts you will find that he sought to arrive and make it to the city of Jerusalem in time for the feast of Pentecost. This is actually quite significant on two different levels and two different fronts—one that touches the life and ministry of Jesus the Christ, and the other that touches an event which took place earlier on in the history of the early church. If you read the New Testament gospel of John you will find that the actions, the ministry and movement of Jesus the Christ—particularly and specifically as it pertains to the city of Jerusalem—was directly linked and directly connected to the feasts which were celebrated by the Jews. If you read the gospel which was written by the apostle John you will find that more often than not the movement of Jesus was centered upon the feasts which were taking place at certain seasons and at certain times, and His movement unto, toward and into the city of Jerusalem would be centered around the feasts. What’s more is that two such feasts which were specifically mentioned in the gospel of John were the feast of Passover and the feast of Tabernacles. If and as you study the life and ministry of Jesus the Christ as it is written and recorded within the gospel written by John you will find that more often than not Jesus sought to make His way to the city of Jerusalem in order that He might be there at the time of the feast, for it would beat the time of the feasts—particularly and especially the pilgrimage feasts—the feasts of Passover, the feasts of Tabernacles, and the feast of Pentecost—when Jews which were scattered abroad throughout the earth would make their way to the city of Jerusalem to celebrate the feast. If Jesus came to the city of Jerusalem during and at the time of the feasts the city would be filled with countless Jews which would have gathered together from the various regions of the earth that they might celebrate the feasts ordained and appointed by the Lord through His servant Moses in the Old Testament. How incredibly interesting it is to think about and consider the fact that here we are centuries later and the feasts which were ordained and appointed through the servant of the Lord Moses would still be celebrated by the Jews here in the city of Jerusalem as Jews from throughout the regions of the earth would make their way to the city of Jerusalem.

I read about the apostle Paul intending on arriving and making it to the city of Jerusalem for the feast of Pentecost, and I can’t help but find it directly and intrinsically linked to the pattern we find within the gospel written by the apostle John concerning the life and ministry of Jesus the Christ. Within and throughout the gospel which the apostle John wrote we find Jesus the Christ making His way unto and into the city of Jerusalem for and at the time of feasts in order that He might not only be among the countless Jews which were there in the city, but also that He might have the greatest influence and greatest impact. When we read of the apostle Paul seeking to make his way to the city of Jerusalem and doing so around the time of the feast of Pentecost, I can’t help but see a similar pattern to that which we find in the gospel of John as Jesus Christ Himself would make His way to the city of Jerusalem at certain seasons and at specific times over the course of three years. In the twentieth chapter of the book of Acts we find it written how the apostle Paul sought and desired to make it to Jerusalem in time for the feast of Pentecost—perhaps in order that he might celebrate the feast with his brethren which dwelt there within the city. What’s more, is that I can’t help but wonder what it would have been like to celebrate the feast of Pentecost knowing that it was on and at the feast of Pentecost the Holy Spirit would arrive and would manifest Himself in an upper room where one hundred and twenty disciples and followers of Jesus the Christ were gathered together worshipping the living God. What was it like in the city of Jerusalem around the time of Pentecost as it was on Pentecost years earlier when the Holy Sprit arrived within and upon the earth and not only baptized, but also filled one hundred and twenty disciples and followers of the Lord Jesus Christ who were with one accord worshipping and praying before and unto the living God. As I read the words which are found within these chapters I can’t help but wonder and consider whether or not the apostle Paul did in fact make it to Jerusalem in time for the feast of Pentecost. Is it possible that the desire which the apostle Paul had to make his way unto and arrive at Jerusalem in time for the feast of Pentecost did in fact come true, and he was able to be in the city at the time of the feast. The beloved physician Luke doesn’t actually reveal unto us that the apostle Paul did in fact make it to the city of Jerusalem for the feast of Pentecost, however, if we consider the possibility that he did in fact make in time for the feast, it is actually quite interesting to think about and consider that when years earlier the Holy Spirit arrived and filled and baptized one hundred and twenty disciples and brethren in an upper room, now there was an angry mob of Jews that were incensed and angered against the apostle Paul. When years earlier those from the various regions of the earth round about Jerusalem, Judaea, Galilee and Samaria heard their own native language and tongue, now the Jews from Jerusalem—as well as the Jews from the surrounding regions of the earth—would all cry out with one accord against the apostle Paul that he might be put to death and once and for all be removed from their midst. Even more than this—when years earlier three thousand souls would come to the faith in the Lord Jesus the Christ as a result of hearing the glorious works and deeds of the living God spoken in their own native tongue, as well as the preaching of the apostle Peter, the city would not be set in edge and would be a powder keg which was ready to explode beyond measure.

I think about and consider the apostle Paul here in the city of Jerusalem, and I can’t help but wonder whether or not the apostle Paul did in fact make it to Jerusalem in time for the feast of Pentecost, and if he did in fact make it to the city in time for the feast, then it has tremendous significance as it pertains to the life and ministry of Jesus the Christ, as well as what the feast would come to represent. If you read the book of Acts you will notice that the feast of Pentecost would be completely and utterly transformed by the arrival of the person, the presence and power of the Holy Spirit just as the feast of Passover would be wonderfully and powerfully transformed by the suffering and death of Jesus the Christ on the cross outside the city of Jerusalem. It would be in the four gospels which were written by the various authors which wrote them we come to understand the complete and utter transformation of the feast of Passover by the suffering and death of Jesus the Christ, as the feast itself—from the time it was implemented in the wilderness as the children of Israel were preparing to make their exodus and departure from the land of Egypt until the time of Jesus the Christ and His suffering and death on the cross—would be transformed by death. How absolutely incredible it is to think about the fact that one feast which was celebrated by the Jewish people would and could be transformed by suffering and death, while another feast which the Jewish people celebrated would be transformed through a baptism of the Holy Spirit and fire. The feast of Pentecost would be completely and utterly transformed by the arrival and manifestation of the Holy Spirit as there would come a sound from heaven as of a mighty rushing wind, and as those one hundred and twenty in the upper room would begin speaking with other tongues as cloven tongues of fire would appear above and upon their heads. We dare not and must not miss the tremendous importance and significance of this reality, for when the apostle Paul would seek to make his way back to the city of Jerusalem for and at the time of the feast of Pentecost he would do so around the time of an event that would be completely and utterly transformed by the arrival and manifestation of the Holy Spirit. It would be only a few decades earlier when the entire city of Jerusalem was itself confused at the events which were taking place in the city as men and women from the surrounding nations, lands and regions heard their own languages being spoken by Jews who otherwise would have no ability to do such a thing. It would be only a few decades earlier when the entire city of Jerusalem would be thrust into a different type of confusion and curiosity, as those from the various regions of the earth would be astonished when they heard their own language and tongue being spoken of there in the city of Jerusalem. As a direct result of the events which took place on the day of Pentecost decades earlier three thousand souls would be added to the one hundred and twenty disciples and followers of Jesus the Christ which were already present there in the upper room.

It is quite interesting and astonishing to think that the apostle Paul would seek to make his way to the city of Jerusalem in time for the feast of Pentecost, and we aren’t given any clue or insight into whether or not the apostle did in fact make it to the city in time for the feast. What we do know without a doubt is that the apostle Paul would indeed make it to the city of Jerusalem, and would find himself being assaulted and attacked by incensed and angered Jews who cried out for his blood and death. What’s more, is that the apostle Paul would find himself at the center of mass confusion and chaos there in the city, as the Jews from Jerusalem—as well as the Jews from the various regions round about Judaea, Galilee and Samaria—would be joined in the confusion and chaos and would cry out for the blood and death of Jesus the Christ. It would be there in the city of Jerusalem—perhaps at the feast of Pentecost—that the city would be thrust into chaos and confusion, and would even be engaged in an uproar as a direct result of the mob of Jews which cried out for the death of Jesus. What we must recognize and understand is that the apostle Paul was no stranger to riots, uproars and outbreaks of the Jews—and even the Gentiles—for if you read the book of Acts you will find the apostle Paul experiencing riots and uproars in Ephesus, in Thessalonica, in Berea, and perhaps even in other places and locations. The apostle Paul was absolutely no stranger to the chaos and confusion that would and could break out among the people when the principalities and powers of darkness were working behind the scenes to manipulate and control the hearts and minds of men and women. In Ephesus the apostle Paul would experience the riot of the Gentiles as Demetrius and the other craftsman of similar trade would incite the entire city against the apostle Paul because his gospel condemned idols made of gold, silver, wood and stone, and how there are no gods which be made of human hands. The gospel which the apostle Paul preached emphatically and boldly declared that there was only one true God, and that God sat upon the throne in heaven above the earth and was the only God to be worshipped. That which so angered Demetrius there in Ephesus was that the gospel which the apostle Paul preached threatened to bring to nought his wealth and income, for the apostle Paul would preach against the idolatry that was so pervasive and prevalent in the earth. What’s more, is that if you read the seventeenth chapter of the book of Acts you will find that there was indeed a different riot and uproar that would be manifested within the city of Thessalonica as the Jews there in the city would be moved with envy towards the apostle Paul, and would incite and stir up the people toward and against the apostle Paul and the gospel he preached concerning Jesus the Christ. Here in Jerusalem we find yet another riot and uproar as the Jews would again be stirred up to chaos and confusion toward against the apostle Paul.

The words which we find and read in this passage of Scripture are actually quite astonishing, for what we find within this passage of Scripture is the principalities and powers of darkness stirring up the Jews and stirring up the masses like a hornet’s nest that has been kicked or poked with a stick, thus angering all the hornets which were inside. What we find within this passage of Scripture is the city of Jerusalem essentially being a powder keg waiting to explode and waiting to go off, and we must understand that this was not the first time the city of Jerusalem would be incensed against one of their own, for it would be incited toward and against Jesus the Christ decades earlier. Here we are decades later and we again find the city of Jerusalem incensed against one of their own, as they sought for the death of the apostle Paul and the end to the gospel he preached concerning Jesus the Christ. In all reality, I am thoroughly convinced that the enemy and adversary thrives and does his best work in chaos and confusion. I firmly believe the enemy does his best work when crowds of people are thrust into chaos and confusion , and when they are incensed against a common object or person. Give a crowd of people something common which they can agree on and argue about and you will find the movement and operation of the devil. With that being said, I am convinced that if we carefully examine and study the generation in which we are presently living in we can clearly see how the enemy and adversary is once more seeking to thrust this generation and countless people into chaos and confusion. Take a look at and examine all the “causes” and all the riots and protests that have taken place in recent months and years and you can and will clearly see a powerful picture of the activity of the enemy and adversary once more in the earth. I believe that while it is true that the Last Days are going to be wonderful days of the gospel being preached, and even signs, wonders and miracles being performed by the faithful disciples of the Lord, I also believe that they are going to be days filled with chaos and contusion, as riots, protests, uproars and the like will be common occurrences throughout and among the nations of the earth. What’s more, is that over the past four years I have not seen more protests and more uproars than ever before, as we seem to be living in the midst of days which are characterized by riots, uproars and protests. Oh I firmly believe that the enemy and adversary thrives in civil unrest, and does his best work in chaos and confusion, for it is when men and women are confused and angry that the enemy and adversary can accomplish much of his agenda and plans. If you read the book of Acts—and even if you study the history of the church fathers—you can and will find and discover that the greatest tool in the hands of the enemy and adversary was in fact chaos and confusion, as the enemy and adversary so desired the mob. Moreover, if you study and examine the history of the Roman Empire you will find that more often than not the enemy and adversary moved in the midst of the mob, and whoever controlled the mob could essentially do anything they wanted or desired.

DAYS OF UPROARS! DAYS OF RIOTS! DAYS OF PROTESTS! I am completely and utterly convinced that if you give people something common to agree upon and argue about, and if you can mix that together with chaos and confusion, you can manipulate the hearts and minds of men. What’s more, is that I am convinced that if you can incite men and women in chaos and confusion you can manipulate their thoughts and their emotions, and can move and operate in the midst of chaos and confusion. Oh we must recognize and understand that the enemy doesn’t always move and operate in stealth, but can and in all reality does move in the midst of chaos and confusion. The more I read and the more I study the book of Acts the more I am convinced that the enemy can traffic the most in the midst of chaos and confusion, as if men and women are confused about what’s really going on—and even if they aren’t quite sure what they are angry about—the enemy can traffic his lies, his schemes and his devices without being interfered with. I read the book of Acts and I can’t help but see a tremendous and intriguing picture of the enemy moving and trafficking in the midst of chaos and confusion, and how if the enemy can cause a mob to be incensed, outraged and angered, he can accomplish some of his greatest assaults and attacks. With that being said, I am convinced that the enemy can and will do what is necessary to thrust men and women into chaos and confusion, and he then traffics and moves in the midst of that chaos and confusion in order that he might go undetected and unnoticed. It is true there are times when the enemy will seek to operate in stealth and operate behind the scenes and can be more easily discerned and noticed, however, there are other times when enemy and adversary can and will move freely in the midst of chaos and confusion, for he can hide himself among the chaos, the anger, the confusion, the hostility, and the like without at all being noticed. .If there is one thing the Roman Empire was known for it was the mob, and how the mob was a crucial element in controlling the Roman Empire, for whoever could manipulate and control the mob could essentially have ultimate and unlimited power and authority during that time. I am completely and utterly convinced that we are in fact living during days of riots and uproars as the enemy seek to thrust men and women into chaos and confusion, in order that he might move undetected and unnoticed that he might accomplish his plans and purposes. There is not a doubt in my mind that it was the enemy and adversary and the principalities and powers of darkness that were working behind the scenes here in Jerusalem to incite the crowd and mob against the apostle Paul in order that they might move undetected and accomplish that which they desire. Oh I am completely and absolutely convinced that we must not be ignorant and unaware of the devices and schemes of the enemy, and we must understand how the enemy and adversary does in fact move and operate in the midst of chaos and confusion, and will even use such realities to IT is absolutely necessary and crucial that we understand the enemy’s ability to traffic in chaos and confusion and how the enemy can and will incite both chaos and confusion to conceal himself and his activity and what he is truly seeking to accomplish.

PAY ATTENTION TO THE CHAOS! PAY ATTENTION TO THE CONFUSION! PAY ATTENTION TO THE RIOTS! PAY ATTENTION TO THE PROTESTS! PAY ATTENTION TO THE UPROARS! PAY ATTENTION TO THE UNREST! I am sitting here this morning and I can’t help but think about and consider the fact that it is absolutely necessary for us to pay attention to what is taking place around us, for the chaos and confusion that is prevalent all around us is a clear and decisive sign of the activity of the enemy and adversary, and more often than not we can discern the activity of the adversary in the midst of the chaos and confusion. There is not a doubt in my mind that the enemy and adversary can and will seek to incite chaos and confusion, as well as unrest, protests and uproars among us in order that he might move freely among us to accomplish his work without being detected and discerned. It is absolutely critical and crucial that we recognize and understand this activity of the adversary, for he can and will use principalities and powers of this present darkness to move in the midst of the chaos and confusion undetected to accomplish a work we might not even be aware of. I believe that it is those who are wise and discerning who can and in fact do recognize and understand how the enemy and adversary can and will do his best work in the midst of chaos and confusion, and that where you find people agreeing and arguing about one specific thing you will find the movement and activity of the enemy. What’s more, is that if the enemy can incite enough arguments about one specific thing in the midst of the earth, he can accomplish that which he desires without being interfered with at all. Oh I firmly believe that we are witnessing the enemy move and traffic in the midst of chaos and confusion, as well as unrest and arguments, for we are and have been living in the days of protests and riots before and all around us. Oh that we would recognize the devices and schemes of the enemy, and that we would come face to face with that which the enemy has been doing and is seeking to do in our midst as he moves and traffics in confusion and chaos. Look for arguments, protests, riots, chaos and confusion, and I will guarantee you will find the enemy seeking to distract us from what is truly important, and even seeking to accomplish his work undetected and unnoticed. The enemy incited the mob of Jews toward and against the apostle Paul in order to silence the gospel concerning Jesus the Christ, in order to somehow stop the church of Jesus the Christ must like he sought to use persecution to silence and destroy the church decades earlier. Oh that we would be wise and discerning concerning the devices, the tactics and strategies of the enemy, and that we would truly come to understand how he moves, how he operates and that which he desires to fulfill and accomplish within our lives and in our midst.
